Scott Teague


Major/Assistant Chief

Major A. Scott Teague serves as the Assistant Chief for the North Wilkesboro Police Department. Teague started work at NWPD on April 15th, 2009.


Teague graduated from North Wilkes High School in 1990. Teague started his law enforcement career at the Statesville Police Department in April of 1997. He worked as a full and part time officer at Statesville.


As a full time officer Teague worked in the Patrol Division, Community Services Division, and Narcotics Division. While in the CSD he served as a Public Housing Officer, Crime Prevention/Community Relations Officer, and COPS officer. While in Narcotics Teague was assigned to the Special Operations Team (SOT) which deals with street level drug interdiction. He also served on the department’s Special Response Team (SRT) as a Hostage Negotiator. Teague was also a Field Training Officer (FTO) for Statesville. As a reserve office at SPD, Teague received the rank of Reserve Officer III/Training Officer. He also served as the In-Service Training Coordinator for SPD and taught many In-Service training topics for the department. Teague also served as one of the Firearms Instructors for SPD.


Major Teague is a certified law enforcement instructor with the State of North Carolina. He is a General instructor, Firearms instructor, Baton instructor and certified to teach many of the state mandated annual training topics. In August of 2003 Major Teague was awarded his Advance Law Enforcement certificate. This is the highest Law Enforcement certifation offered by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.


In 1994, Major Teague earned a Bachelor of Science degree from UNC at Charlotte in Criminal Justice and Psychology. In 2003, he earned his Master of Arts from Appalachian State in Political Science and Justice Studies.


While a reserve officer at SPD Teague worked in the North Carolina Community College System. Teague worked at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem as the BLET School Director and Department Chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Division. Teague also worked at Mitchell Community College in Statesville as the Criminal Justice Program Coordinator.


Major Teague continues to teach part-time for Forsyth Tech and has taught part-time for Appalachian State University and Lees McRae College.
