Scott Teague


Major/Assistant Chief

Major Teague started work at the North Wilkesboro Police Department in April of 2009 and serves as the Assistant Chief of Police for the department. He oversees the day-to-day operations of the department and assists the Chief with the administration of the department. Major Teague serves as the firearms instructor, oversees all the training for the police department, and oversees the Field Training program at the department.


Teague holds a Masters degree from Appalachian State University in Political Science and Justice Studies. He obtained his Bachelor degree from UNC Charlotte in Criminal Justice and Psychology. In March of 2012, Major Teague graduated from the Law Enforcement Executive Program (LEEP) at North Carolina State University.


Before coming to North Wilkesboro Teague worked for the Statesville Police Department for 12 years, as a fulltime and reserve officer. While at Statesville he worked in several different divisions; patrol, community services, public relations, crime prevention, public housing, and narcotics. He served as a hostage negotiator for the Special Response Team and served as one of the firearms instructors for the department. As a reserve officer at the department Teague held the rank of Reserve Officer III / Training Officer. He also served as the training coordinator for Statesville.


While serving as a reserve officer Teague worked full time in the North Carolina Community College system. He worked at Forsyth Tech Community College in Winston as the Department Chair of the Social Sciences division and Director of BLET (Basic Law Enforcement Training). He also worked at Mitchell Community College in Statesville as the Criminal Justice program coordinator.


Teague still teaches part time for Forsyth Tech Community College, where he teaches Political Sciences and Criminal Justice courses. He also teaches part time for Kaplan University, where he teaches Criminal Justice courses. Teague has also taught for Appalachian State University and Lees McRae College.
