In Memory of K-9 ''Rico''
Rico, a Belgium Malinois holding the title of Politiehond I from Holland, served with the North Wilkesboro Police Department from April 1995 until his passing on November 9th, 2006. Lt. Bobby Huie was Rico’s handler and both were part of the Crime Prevention Unit and Patrol Division. The K-9 team was responsible for drug searches, search for lost or missing persons, and the tracking and apprehension of suspects. This team also played an important role in programs geared toward the youth of North Wilkesboro.
This memorial is in recognition of the business owners and individuals of Wilkes County who contributed funds for the purchase of Rico and his equipment. Thank you for supporting the Police Department.
